Erica is a technology executive with over 15 years of leadership experience in digital transformation, scalable systems, and organizational change. Born to two Air Force parents, she moved frequently throughout her childhood, gaining exposure to different communities and cultures that shaped her approach to building technology that works for everyone.
Her career began at the University of Alaska and continued with roles at Home Depot's Network Operations Center, Google, and Slack. She moved into management at Patreon, leading the Infrastructure team and continued her engineering leadership work as Director of Engineering at Microsoft and GitHub. She transitioned to public service as Chief Technology Officer and Deputy Executive Director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, modernizing the organization's technical operations while strengthening security and transparency. Prior to her role in the City of Oakland, she most recently worked as Head of Technology for Parkwood Entertainment.
Erica currently serves on the board of the Electronic Frontier Foundation. She has been a featured speaker at TED@BCG, Strange Loop Conference, and the Wall Street Journal's Women in the Workplace Forum. She has been recognized through the 2015 Level Playing Field Institute Lux Award, inclusion in The Root 100 Most Influential African Americans (2016), WIRED Magazine's 2016 Next List, YBCA 100 (2018), and as a 2020 BBC 100 Women Honoree.
Erica brings both technical depth and strategic thinking to the intersection of technology and public policy. She is based in Oakland, California.
