
Charter Reform to Increase Government Accountability and Improve City Services
Mayor Lee launched a community-driven Charter Reform effort to modernize Oakland’s government structure, improve accountability, and strengthen city services. The process included more than 60 stakeholder interviews, 14 public meetings across all seven districts, and engagement with more than 750 residents. Recent polling shows strong voter support for reforms that create clearer leadership and responsibility at City Hall.
