Bring together Police Department leadership and representatives from all business corridors to coordinate and improve public safety strategies.
What We Accomplished
• Convened over 100 business leaders from the Big 4 Employers to mid-size tech companies, to small businesses, micro entrepreneurs, and chambers of commerce, with City leadership to continue to reduce crime, increase foot traffic, revitalize business corridors, support businesses, and build a narrative for Oakland’s safety improvements and economic revitalization
• Funded five Police Academies
• Funded Community Safety Ambassadors
What's Coming
• Increasing nighttime and weekend Police and Community Safety Ambassador presence downtown
• Training community ambassadors as block captains across Oakland’s business corridors
• Expanding “Clean and Safe” model citywide in partnership with the Business Improvement Districts, OPD, businesses, and community
• Building seven-city regional partnership to prevent gun and gang violence
• Developing citywide task force on immigrant community support and protections
