Oakland Celebrates a Successful Super Bowl LX Week and BAHC Live! Oakland Fan Zone & Watch Party
Oakland, CA - Following a highly successful Super Bowl LX week, Oakland emerged on the global stage as a vibrant hub of culture, community, and economic opportunity. Under the leadership of Mayor Barbara Lee, the city welcomed thousands of residents and visitors through a series of cultural, culinary, and community driven events that showcased Oakland at its best.
With Super Bowl LX generating an estimated $370 to $630 million in regional economic impact, Oakland played a meaningful role in the Bay Area's global moment. Tourism continues to be a major driver of Oakland's economy, generating $779 million in total economic impact last year, and this week further reinforced the city's appeal as a destination rooted in culture, creativity, and community pride.
"Oakland showed up in a powerful way — and as I continue to say, Oakland is on the move" said Mayor Barbara Lee. "From the music and food to the entrepreneurs and community leaders, this week was about celebrating who we are as a city. The success of these events reflects Oakland's resilience, creativity, and the pride we have in our communities. We were able to show our guests that Oakland is on the move!"
Throughout the week, Oakland hosted a wide range of events, including the Divine 9 and HBCU Flag Football Classic at Laney College, the DJ D Nice Day Party at For the Culture, the Complex Family Style Food Fest at Oakland Arena, and the BAHC Live! Oakland Fan Zone and Official NFL Super Bowl Watch Party at the historic Henry J. Kaiser Center for the Arts.
The BAHC Live! Oakland Fan Zone welcomed thousands of RSVP'd attendees for a free outdoor festival featuring live entertainment, family friendly activities, and local food vendors. The Official NFL Super Bowl Watch Party inside the Calvin Simmons Theater sold out in advance, underscoring the excitement and strong community participation throughout the week.
These events were made possible by partners who believe in Oakland and invested in this moment. The City extends its sincere thanks to event donors and sponsors including: Amalgamated Bank, UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals, PG&E Corporation Foundation, Kaiser Permanente, TomKat Foundation, Waste Management, The Rotunda Building by Rubicon Point Partners, Taube Family Foundation, Loop Capital, Comcast, Verizon, Commercial Bank of California, Carol H. Williams Advertising, Thompson Bliss Family Gift, Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce and the Oakland Chinatown Chamber of Commerce.
Public safety remained a top priority throughout Super Bowl week. The Oakland Police Department, in coordination with the Oakland Fire Department and city partners, implemented a comprehensive public safety plan that ensured a safe and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and businesses across Oakland.
With strong turnout, positive energy, and meaningful economic impact, Super Bowl LX week marked a successful moment for Oakland and reinforced the city's role as a dynamic destination for major events and community centered celebrations.
