Federal Deployment in Bay Area
The City of Oakland is aware of media reports that federal agents are being deployed to the San Francisco Bay Area. Oakland remains a proud Sanctuary City committed to standing with our immigrant families. City leaders are actively monitoring this situation and are in touch with Oakland's state and federal delegation.

When I walk through our neighborhoods, I see what all residents see: a City full of potential, creativity and pride, but I also see the toll that illegal dumping takes on the places we call home. It hurts public health, damages our economy, and disrespects the community we’ve all worked so hard to build. As your Mayor, I will not allow that behavior to go unaddressed, which is why I launched “Keep the Town Clean” when I took office, a comprehensive program to remove illegal dumping from our communities and crack down on those who dump on our town. Here are all the measures Oakland is taking to Keep the Town Clean.

7 Day Service
For a limited time, OPW will move to a 7 day workweek, focused on coordinated trash pickups throughout the city.

Commercial Corridor Cleanups
Monthly clean up events along commercial corridors in collaboration with Business Improvement Districts (BIDs) and emerging BIDs.
Bulky Block Parties
Monthly street activations per council district, which include 40-foot dumpsters for clean-ups and community needs, coordinated with schools and community partners.

Residential
(School Community) Street Activations
Monthly Street activations per council district, which include 40-foot dumpster for clean ups and community need coordinated with schools and community partners.

Increased Community Engagement
Oakland will embark upon an RFQ process seeking community-based organizations interested in partnering on cleanups and beautification efforts.
